If they needed a reminder, members of the Pennsylvania state Senate learned Monday night they are wearing a legislative bull's-eye for those intent on giving victims of child sexual abuse more pathways to justice this fall.
That's where the battle over the proposed creation of a temporary, two-year window allowing abuse survivors who are otherwise time-barred from bringing a lawsuit against their perpetrators hangs in the balance. The measure - endorsed by the grand jury that issued this summer's scathing report documenting abuses and cover-ups within six Pennsylvania dioceses of the Roman Catholic Church - cruised to an easy first-round win in the state House of Representatives Monday.
