The Nazareth House orphanages were run by the Sisters of Nazareth beginning in the middle of the 19th century. The first institution began in London, but they expanded to include houses in Britain, Australia,
South Africa, the United States and Ireland. The sisters ran a tight
ship, enforcing their own brand of discipline which often crossed the
line into the worst kind of abuse. Over 500 former residents from
different countries have come forward to recount their tales of horror
