The names of deceased priests accused of sexual abuse of a minor, including one who served a Midland parish, were announced late Wednesday morning on the Diocese of Saginaw website.
The list was made public by the Most Rev. Walter A. Hurley, apostolic administrator for the diocese. The Rev. Thomas William Ryan, pastor of St. Brigid in Midland from May 1958 to October 1970, is on the list of deceased clergy of the Saginaw diocese against whom a credible allegation of child sexual abuse was presented. Ryan, who died Jan. 25, 1975, also was assistant priest of Holy Family Parish, Saginaw, from April 1936 to July 1942.
