The History of Cork's Good Shepherd Convent must be taken into account before any redevelopment can take place. The
concerns were raised by local residents at a public meeting last night,
about the possibility of human remains in unmarked graves on the site
of the former Magdalen laundry.
The Convent operated as an orphanage and a Magdalen laundry until the late 1970's, and it's estimated 30,000 women were admitted over it's 150 year history.
