The commission of investigation into the Mother and Baby homes has cost €3.73 million to date. The commission, which was
established in February 2015, is tasked with investigating allegations
of abuse at 14 institutions and four county homes between 1922 and 1998.
Figures released to The Irish Times show the costs of the inquiry, which is chaired by Judge Yvonne Murphy, were €1,485,676 in 2015 and will reach a further €2 million this year.
