Politicians and the media have been complicit in nurturing an environment conducive to racial hatred, albeit unintentionally ("'Disgusting': Morrison slams Senator's views on massacre", March 16-17).
Morrison's condemnation of Fraser Anning, though warranted, smacks of hypocrisy. It is grossly irresponsible of the government to continually claim that incarcerated asylum seekers, mostly Muslim, are a threat to our security.
Jacinda Adern's response to the tragedy in New Zealand was compassionate, responsible and unifying.
