Survivors' stories of child abuse at Burlington's St. Joseph's Orphanage decades ago have risen to the attention of state and local leaders in the criminal justice system -- a quarter century after they were first made public.
Vermont Attorney General T.J. Donovan along with Burlington police announced the formation of a joint state-local task force on Monday.
Investigators want to bring a "public accounting" of what occurred not just at St. Joseph's Orphanage, but at similar institutions around the state, the attorney general said.
