Sweeping changes to the law could invalidate a controversial legal tactic that prevents survivors of child abuse from suing the Catholic Church. The bill to be introduced into the Victorian parliament this year could expose billions of dollars of assets owned by the Catholic Church and other religious organisations to potential legal action for the first time in more than a decade.
