Child abuse inquiry: Neerkol Orphanage victims describe brutal treatment

BRENDAN TREMBATH: The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse has begun its hearings into the St Joseph's Neerkol Orphanage near Rockhampton. Sitting in the central Queensland city for the next fortnight, the commission will hear more than a dozen abuse victims describe their brutal treatment at the hands of priests, nuns and orphanage workers.
The commission will examine how the Catholic Church, the Sisters of Mercy Order and the Queensland government responded to the abuse allegations.
